Fantasy football updates: I came in close to the bottom of two leagues (sigh). In the money league, after being in first place for most of the season, I came in 2nd. (Insert many expletives here). I did win $100. I was the only female in that league. However, I went out in the first round of the playoffs (sigh, again). And, for the fourth league, I came in first (no money, though, but great satisfaction as I, again, was the only female in the league), and I beat my significant other in the first round of the playoffs. (Note to Gary: You would have had a chance, if you hadn't made your last-minute roster change. Bwaaaahahaha)! So I live to play another day to see who is the actual champion of that league. (Look out nephew, Ryan; I'm rough and tough, hard to bluff, and used to hardships. I am also full of s***)!
Real football updates: We are Cardinals season ticket holders this year. For the first half of the season that meant grinning and bearing all manner of insults and teasing. But, for the second half of the season, it has meant cheering ourselves silly for each home game, as our team has found a way to win, win, win! Usually in overtime. So we have gotten more than our money's worth of entertainment. One more game to go (on New Year's Day), and then I think I will beg Gary to buy season tickets again for next year! This has been such fun!
Christmas decorating updates: Nothing new to mention. Which means that a grinch is still possessing my body. Oh dear...
Christmas baking updates: The upside--Merrilyn and Abby, (sister and niece), did a spectacular job of baking bazillions of cookies over a 4-day period to give away to perfect strangers. (I am not really sure about the "perfect strangers" part, but I do know that they gifted me, um, us, a bucket of them. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! And, too bad, Gary, if you work most of this week, and the cookies somehow magically disappear)! And the downside--me, do any baking? Bah, humbug. See, there's that grinch again.
Card update: tomorrow is the 8th birthday of our granddaughter, Brynn. Her party was celebrated yesterday morning with a lovely brunch put on by our daughter and son-in-law. (Hey, Ang and Jon)! Brynn made out like a bandit, as family members on both sides gave her lovely gifts. (Although I am not sure how I really feel about the marshmallow rifle, Barry and TJ). Anyway, I actually finished Brynn's card in time to photograph it at 1:00 a.m. before I went to bed Saturday night. So I will give you the recipe below, and I am entering it into two challenges:
