The Outlawz Greeting Card "Anything Goes" Challenge

I expect that we will see lots of entries this week, as we have "Anything Goes" for our challenge. I am looking forward to seeing the creativity in full bloom! We have a new sponsor this week, one I dearly love: Rick St. Dennis. His images are unique and uber-fabulous! I heart them. I heart them very much!

I have quite a collection of Rick's images, and was thrilled to add to it for this challenge! I chose "Marionette", one of Rick's new images this year. Speaking of this year, it is already 1/3 gone. What the heck? How did that happen so fast? I would like to know, seriously, well, maybe not so seriously, but I would like to know if the earth is traveling faster around the sun. Because time seems to have sped up at an unreasonable rate, at least for me. What a pain!

Oh, and on the subject of pain, I went to the endodontist last Wednesday. He is very nice. His office is very nice. His assistant and front desk personnel are very nice. But, what he has to do to me this Wednesday morning is not very nice. He is going to do an apical root canal treatment. And I am really. not. looking. forward. to. it. Can you tell?

This is the same procedure I had done on my front tooth in 1967, although this very nice endodontist tells me that treatment now is much better than it was back then. Ha! He still has to give me injections in the roof of my mouth; he still has to cut open my gum tissue, (although he is going to use the old incision); he still has to drill inside my head. Sigh....how can that be better? Oh, and he will clean out the apparent infection I have in there and then fill in the space with cadaver bone. Oh, goody. I can't wait. Gary said he will be married to the walking dead. Nice.  This surgery is supposed to take an hour. Longest hour of the year for me, I am sure. Especially with the way time flies when I am having fun.

On the bright side, he saw no infection or cracking in the tooth in the back of my mouth. Which was evident after his assistant took six X-rays of that tooth. I think it was six, but I may have lost count. She couldn't get the shots she wanted; then to add to the fun, the X-ray apparatus was too big for my mouth and I kept gagging on it. So I am really happy that he doesn't need to do a root canal on that tooth at the present time.

Please send me some positive energy on Wednesday morning about 9:30 MST, (or PDT.) I could really use it; thank you, thank you very much.

Well, now that I have my dental trauma out of the way, I can continue with my card. As I said, before I so rudely interrupted myself, I chose "Marionette" by Rick St. Dennis. I thought I could come up with something fun using that image.

I printed her on Make It Colour Blending Card and colored her with Copics:

Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20
Hair: Y21, YR23, E33, E35
Leotard: W0, W1, W2
Shoes & Bows: W5, W7, W9
Stars: B12, B14

I added Copic Spica to her earrings, shoes, and stars. Then I sponged some Stampin' Up ink around the edges of the image. I chose DP from the Authentique Journey collection and paired it with SUCS. (Sorry Stampin' Up. Just couldn't resist.) Die cuts were created using the following dies: Spellbinders Classic Stars, Cheery Lynn Bow & Bell, MFT Chevron Stripes, and Whimsy Corners. I sponged a bit of SU ink on the star with the sentiment, (which I took from an old song--the sentiment, not the star). A string of black beads, some ribbons & feathers, and netting from my stash completed my design.

Do check out the cards by my teammates. They are fabulous! And be sure to get your entries into this challenge. The prize is too good to pass up! Have a good week! (It should be better than mine, don't you think?)

  6. Penny, a very beautiful card! It is a great choice! I feel for you Penny getting work done on your front teeth is not fun! I got two root canals pulled 2 months ago. I hate the gaping holes, the next procedure is to get implants. I am not looking forward to that either!
