Through The Craft Room Door Anything Goes Challenge

Our sponsor this week is Michelle Perkett. I chose her Olive image for my card.

I am not really feeling very chatty at the moment. I am still trying to process what happened in Boston yesterday. So I will just get to the deets on my card, and save my extraneous comments for another day.

I printed Olive and her sentiment on Make It Colour Blending Card and then colored the image with Copics:

Skin: E000, E00, E11, E21, R20
Hat & Swimsuit: B12, B14, B16
Hat Band & Pail: RV23, RV25, RV29
Shovel: Y13, Y15, Y18
Starfish: W0, W2, W4

I added a bit of Ultra Fine Flower Soft to the sand under her feet. I chose DP from Best Creation, Inc. Splash Fun collection and paired it with Stampin' Up CS.  I added some shells to the design, as well as several die cuts.

Dies used were: Marianne Designs Sea Shells, Sea Side, and Pointy Circle Frame & Flower; Memory Box Big Splash Border. The sea shells and starfish die cuts were sponged with Stampin' Up ink. I was not happy with my coloring on this card, nor with the color that I got on my photo. I did try to touch it up, but the sky is actually bluer than shown. Oh well...some days are like diamonds and some days are like stones. Yesterday was definitely a stone day in so many ways.

Wishing you all a great rest of the week, and hoping you will join our challenge at TTCRD. Be sure to check out the latest issue of the magazine. There is a preview available in the video at the top right of my blog.

  10. Penny, i don't know if i can say this right, but it bugs me even more that this tragedy continues to affect life..it's a domino affect. The evilness probably didn't even know it'd impact your chattiness that brings happiness to those that read it. Your card is so sweet and it's what the world should be all about.

  11. This is soooo cute, Penny! I am entirely jealous of your little girl's tan skin! I am always pale as a ghost and I gave up even trying to tan many years ago! I love the effect of the Flower Soft on the sand... very realistic. Beautiful coloring of the adorable image too! I, too, was saddened by the Boston bombings and the senseless deaths and injuries but then I read something that made me think... it said something to the effect that no matter how many bad people there are in the world, the good always have and always will outnumber them. That did a little bit to soothe the beast for me. I hope that you're feeling better now as we would all miss your normally sunshiney personality.

    Big hugs,
    Anniebee

  12. OMG- this card is soooooo darling! I LOVE all of the dies and the scene you created!!! Love the Flower soft sand- love the sun from the flower die.....eekkkkk!!! So cute!!!
My youngest has a very good friend studying in Boston- she is 20- and an EMT...and she was working in the medical tent by the finish line..... I am so glad she is OK- and hope the horror of it all does not haunt her..... A senseless act and I feel so bad for all of the families and loved ones affected- people who were hurt and those that helped, those that were just on-lookers, those that had to watch it over and over on the news.......
I will be away from my blog for a bit in the near future....will post a little candy later this week. If you do not see me- I'll be back in a couple of weeks!

  16. I know what you mean about the state of the world at the moment. Why do certain people have no value for others lives.
Your card is gorgeous Penny. I love the image - she is adorable. Love the wavy die and the pebbles are fab as is the sentiment.

  19. Wonderful summer time scene.

The card is adorable and so is the image. She's got a nice suntan, though she really ought to stay out of the sun or use a lotion with SPF500.

I really love the way you used all those fabulous die cuts.
